Shout out to my family

So, I have decided take a swipe at blogging. It shouldnt be that tough I guess, really its just saying the things you wish your people were around to hear. So here goes...

Well, I'm starting my 5th week at the South Pole, on my 4th trip here. This season has been unseasonably cold (even by Antarctic standards) but is warming up. The temps this week reached a scorching -15 F, but the winds are still gusting around 10 to 15 knots, which drives the windchill to around -40 F.

Hello to all my family back in the wonderful state of Wisconsin. I have come to miss the Wisconsin winters while "vacationing" here in the deep south during the "summer", but will soon be back to share what is left of the snow, slush and ice. I have been able to breifly speak to a few of you and it helps immensely to keep in touch with the real world. To those of you that I dont get to keep in touch with, warm thoughts and prayers will find their way here to give me strength and resolve.

To Christine and Mikey, I think of you both all the time and you are the main reason I am smiling every day. Hugs & Kissses.

I'll try to update this first attempt at a blog as often as I can... stop back often for funny stories, goofy pictures and thoughts from me to you.

I miss you alot too. I talk about you and your adventure/job as often as I can. Grethe, Greg and Coach send their love along with me.
Grethe lost her first tooth last Monday. It was the night we had the big snow storm that ended up to not be that bad only 6-8 inches but closed Madison schools none the less. I tried to get her going by asking if she thought the Tooth Fairy could come even in a snow storm. Of course she was sure she would. She did and she brought a dollar. Now I find out that the fairy was very generous. Had I known, I think her fairy would have brought a quarter. She is hoping that her book 'Little Rabbit's Loose Tooth' is right and that Little Mike will receive her tooth soon.
I was able to visit it with Christine and Mikey last week. They look great and seem as happy as they can be without you around. I hadn't seem Mikey for quite some time and WOW is he getting tall. His legs are not even that chubby any more. He is so happy. Christine is a great Mom and you can certainly see that through his eyes. He is really getting close to crawling isn't he. I think I'd fib in the baby book and put that he has started. Hey, if he can move that far that fast...brag it up.
Can I just add that he has some awefully proud Grandparents. All 6!!!
I miss calling the 3456966 and getting an understanding voice on the other end. Not even saying anything and you getting it.
I'm going before I start blubbering.
You continue to amaze me with your strength and wisdom.
I love you and am so proud of the man you are and continue to become.
I will quote a wonderful woman to end...Enjoy and Gather

Greg and Grethe had the SIRUS Holiday channel on and the John Denver Muppets song came on. Thought you would enjoy hearing a couple of the songs. I'll send an email with the songs. I am sure all of your followers would enjoy them if you decide to post 'em.
